Michelle Pockey
National Chair
Michelle Pockey is one of four founders of the Professional Women’s Network and has served as Chair of the PWN since the Vancouver Chapter was first launched in 1997. She is a business lawyer and a partner in the Vancouver law office of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP.
Michelle is recognized across Canada as a social entrepreneur and a strong supporter of women in business. In addition to serving as an active chair of PWN, she also serves on the Advisory Board to the Young Women in Business, and as member on the Advisory Boards for GroYourBiz.com and Vertical Bridge Corporate Consulting, and is a Board Member of WEConnect Canada. Michelle is an active member of the Women President’s Organization (Vancouver Chapter II) and is an Associate with UnitedSucces – an exclusive global online networking organization. Michelle is also a Director on the Board of the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, a former Director of the Environmental Manager’s Association of British Columbia, of the Vancouver Bar Association, and of the Women Lawyers Forum of the Canadian Bar Association.
Michelle is an involved mother to two small children while at the same time devoting significant effort to her law practice and to assisting women business owners and professionals to achieve their business and career goals. In recognition of this, Michelle received a World of Difference Award in the Entrepreneurs Category from The International Alliance of Women in 2011. She was also nominated in 2010 and 2011 for a YWCA Women of Distinction Award, and for several other prestigious awards in 2011 including in a Business in Vancouver Influential Women in Business Award, a PEAK Award offered by the Association for Women in Finance, and for the B.C. Brenda Plowman
National Chair, Special Events and Expansion
Brenda has assisted Michelle at the helm of the Professional Womens’ Network since June, 2006 where her focus has been on developing and supporting the execution of strategies to expand membership, increase the quality of member services and events, and to increase the PWN’s national and global presence. Brenda also serves as Director of Marketing and Business Development at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP. She is past Vice President of Sales & Marketing USA at Hamilton & Spill and Past President of the Legal Marketing Association. brenda@pwncanada.ca
